Chị Trần Hoàng Hiếu công tác tại một đơn vị truyền thông ở Hà Nội sau khoảng 2 tháng ăn tinh bột nghệ vàng nguyên chất hàng ngày đã có làn da trắng sáng, mịn màng.

Khi đến cơ quan, nhiều đồng nghiệp thấy khá ngạc nhiên vì da chị thay đổi rõ rệt. Trước đây, chị có làn da trắng nhưng bị nám và mụn 2 bên má.

Chị Hiếu chia sẻ: “Vì da xấu quá nên tôi phải tìm cách cải thiện.  Được bạn mách cách dùng tinh bột nghệ làm đẹp da nên tôi mua về dùng. Tôi đã dùng tinh nghệ hơn 1 tháng nay,  ngày uống 2 lần, mỗi lần 3 thìa cà phê. Da không chỉ đẹp mà sức khỏe được cải thiện rất nhiều.

Đây là cách làm đẹp tự nhiên, từ từ nhưng tôi thấy an toàn. Tuy nhiên, điều bất tiện là mỗi lần phải dùng một lượng tinh bột nghệ lớn, mùi vị và cảm giác rất khó chịu, nhưng vì làm đẹp nên cứ phải cố dùng hàng ngày”.

Còn chị Thúy Hằng (Tam Trinh, Hà Nội) da bị khô, bong tróc. Đi đo mức độ ô xy hóa, các chuyên gia khuyến cáo da chị đang ở ngưỡng xấu nhất.

Chị nhờ người quen mua hộ về dùng. Chị trộn tinh bột nghệ với sữa chua không đường, để tủ lạnh rồi đắp hàng ngày, thấy da được cải thiện rõ rệt. Dù không còn trẻ như chị Hằng, chị Hiếu, nhưng chị Quyên làm phóng viên tại một tờ báo điện tử tại Hà Nội cũng rất quan tâm đến làn da. Theo chị Quyên, da chị có nhiều nếp nhăn trên khóe mắt, trên gò má và phía dưới mắt xuất hiện vài nốt tàn nhang, vết nám. Theo thời gian, nốt này càng to ra. Chị Quyên muốn làm đẹp bằng tinh bột nghệ.

Hơn nữa, chị nghe nói  tinh bột nghệ giúp ngăn chặn ung thư. Giờ ăn cái gì cũng sợ nên phải ‘chặn’ trước bằng cách uống tinh bột nghệ.

Chị có nhờ người quen mua hộ tinh bột nghệ nhưng cũng là mua trao tay nên không dám chắc về chất lượng. Sản phẩm lại không có đóng gói, không nhãn mác nên chị  chưa thật sự yên tâm.

In Central Vietnam – roughly from Danang to Nha Trang – the dry season runs from February to September, and is followed by lots of rain from October to December. The seasons are not as pronounced here, however, and it can rain at any time of the year, but the hottest months are June/July while the coolest months are December/January.

High and low season in Vietnam

Generally, high season is from October through March. The peak is from mid-December through February, at which time prices can nearly double, particularly in beach-resort areas. During the peak season it is essential to have advanced reservations in resort areas such as Mui Ne and Nha Trang. Conversely, in the low season some hotels, resorts and restaurants may close for a month.

The best and worst times to visit are subjective to some degree. If you are a budget traveller and don’t mind a few wet days, come in low season. If you enjoy bustling activity, want the best chance of good beach weather and can afford the extra costs – and particularly want to spend Christmas, New Year or Tet in Vietnam – then high season is for you.

It’s near-impossible to find a time of the year when the north, centre and south have equally good weather, but the safest bet – if you’re travelling the length of Vietnam – is between March and April. The rains will have abated, humidity levels are still bearable, and it will be relatively warm and dry throughout Vietnam. However, if you are just visiting north and south Vietnam and skipping the centre, November and December are good months too.

Commencing from Kon Tum, Route 14 runs through Dak To, Ngoc Hoi, Dak Glei and Phuoc Son from where you can take a right turn on 14E and cruise downhill through Hiep Duc till you reach Highway 1 at the town of Thanh Binh midway between Tam Ky and Hoi An. Dak To
Dak To is sometimes visited on a day-trip from Kon Tum, but even the tour organisers admit it's not really worth the effort. There's a war memorial, with two salvaged tanks -- one Russian, one Chinese -- which were used by the Viet Cong towards the end of the American war. Just outside town are the remains of an American-built airstrip along with some bombed-out foxholes. As Dak To lies just 40km north of Kon Tum and 20 km south of Ngoc Hoi (Plei Kan) you don't really need to spend a night here -- unless you want to.

Ngoc Hoi (Plei Kan)
Ngoc Hoi is on a spot along the Ho Chi Minh Trail (Route 14) where it does a hairpin turn just 14 km from the Lao border of Bo Y. You'll most likely find yourself bedding down in Ngoc Hoi if you've decided to take a walk on the wild side and use the Bo Y border to cross between Attapeu in Laos and Kon Tum in Vietnam. It's also a possible rest stop when touring the Central Highlands independently. While Ngoc Hoi is surrounded by rolling, green countryside, the town itself is unremarkable. Locals refer to this place as Ngoc Hoi, but it's Plei Kan on the maps and some road signs.

Dak Glei
This tiny town 50km north of Ngoc Hoi, is located just at the southern end of the mountain pass along Route 14, 50 km south of from Phuoc Son. It serves as a small centre of commerce for the surrounding tribal villages, and staying here makes sense if you're not quiet ready to leave the hills behind and continue your journey, or if you want to take on the mountains in the morning.

Phuoc Son
This is a staple stop-over point for Easy Rider tours travelling between Da Nang and Kon Tum -- most don't linger here for more than the night.

Phuoc Son is a pretty unassuming little mountain town -- internet is available at the post office and at a few internet cafes, but the Agribank here has no services for foreigners -- they don't even handle currency exchange and referred us back to our hotel for the service. Accommodation is basic -- nothing fancy, but there is some variety and a few places are quite cheap.

Hiep Duc
This small, district capital is technically called Tan An, but everyone seems to call it by the name of the district it's in. Hiep Duc is the centre of some government administrative activity and not much else -- the only reason to visit is to pass through if you opt to take Route 14E east from the junction with Route 14A (the Ho Chi Minh Highway), 5 km outside Phuoc Son, or you're travelling the other way from Thanh Binh along coastal Route 1A.
